Chapter 84 The Mad Emily
Chapter 84 The Mad Emily
Fairfax Estate
basement
Emily's figure blurred into a golden afterimage in the dimly lit corridor.
Her right hand had somehow grasped a dinner knife, the tip of which was aimed straight at Green's throat.
"Emily! What are you doing?!" Sylvia's scream echoed down the corridor.
Green instinctively turned to the side.
The knife grazed his neck, tearing his collar and leaving a shallow bloodstain.
The cold touch and the threat of death instantly brought Green to his senses.
This was not an ordinary attack fueled by anger.
Emily's eyes were wrong; her blue eyes were now filled with a chaotic, inhuman madness.
She's out of control.
"Emily! Stop!" Green took a step back, raising his arms in a defensive stance. "Are you fucking insane?!"
But Emily seemed not to hear.
She let out a low, almost beastly roar and pounced again.
This time, her movements were even more bizarre.
Instead of a straight sprint, he used a near-gliding motion, defying human biomechanics, to cut into Green's defensive blind spot from the side.
The knife slashed towards his ribs.
Green managed to twist his body, the tip of the knife grazing his side, drawing out a string of beads of blood.
The pain made him gasp.
But he did not retaliate.
It wasn't that he didn't want to fight back, but Emily's movements were too strange, and he was no match for her at all.
If I had known the 'assassin' was this strong...
"Emily... Mommy begs you..." Sylvia knelt on the ground, tears streaming down her face, "Stop... Please stop..."
Emily's body suddenly froze.
She clutched her head, her fingers running through her golden hair, and let out a painful groan.
"Emily, listen to me," Green approached cautiously, "You are Emily Hayes. Focus, fight those voices, you can do it—"
His words were interrupted again.
Emily suddenly raised her head, her eyes filled with an even greater madness than before, and a twisted smile spread across her lips.
"Kill you...kill you...everything will be alright...kill you...Dad will come back...kill you..."
She moved again.
This time, it was faster and the attack was more lethal.
The knife was no longer a simple stabbing attack, but transformed into a silver net of blades, sealing off all of Green's space to dodge.
Every strike was aimed at a vital point.
Throat, heart, eyes, temples.
Green dodged awkwardly, his abilities utterly ineffective against the "assassin".
Emily is sliding toward complete loss of control.
"Emily... my child..." Sylvia slumped to the ground, her eyes vacant, as if her soul had been ripped out.
She watched as her daughter attacked Green frantically, watched Green, covered in blood, desperately try to dodge...
Her world is also collapsing completely.
Just then, hurried footsteps came from the direction of the stairs.
"Grin! Clarisse!"
It was Erwin's voice.
Immediately afterwards, three figures rushed into the corridor.
Elwin, Rex, and Anaïs following behind them.
All three of them were injured.
Elwin had a deep claw mark on his left arm, Rex had several bloody marks on his face, and Anaïs's skirt was torn. Although her face was still pale, the initial fear was gone from her eyes.
They had clearly just gone through a fierce battle, dealing with the blood servants in the banquet hall.
"Green! You—" Alvin's words were cut short.
He saw the scene before him.
Green was covered in blood.
Emily's frenzied attack.
Sylvia is devastated.
And... from behind the largest door deep in the corridor, an increasingly intense and unsettling spiritual fluctuation emanated.
"Help me calm her down!" Green yelled hoarsely, dodging Emily's thrust. "She's going to lose control!"
Alvin instantly understood the situation, pulled a revolver from his armpit holster, and aimed it at Emily.
"No! Don't hurt her!" Green and Sylvia shouted at the same time.
Alvin frowned. There was no room for mercy when dealing with out-of-control individuals, otherwise it would harm everyone. This was a consensus among the extraordinary individuals.
"trouble."
"Rek, control her! But don't hurt her!" Alvin said quickly. "Anajis, take care of the lady!"
Rex nodded and immediately began the operation.
He is not as fast as Emily, but as the "Gravedigger," his strength and defense far exceed those of ordinary people.
He charged straight at Emily, neither dodging nor avoiding, and took the blow she struck with his body.
"puff!"
The knife pierced Rick's shoulder, but he seemed oblivious to the pain, gripping Emily's wrists tightly with both hands.
"Let me go! I'll kill you! I'll kill all of you!" Emily struggled frantically.
But Rick's strength was too great, and no matter how much Emily struggled, she could not break free.
At the same time, Erwin took a deep breath and began to chant.
A gentle melody and soft voice spread out and enveloped Emily.
After a moment, her struggles noticeably subsided, and the madness in her eyes began to fade, replaced by confusion and pain.
"Hold on," Alvin said softly. "Fight those voices, and remember who you are."
Emily's lips trembled.
Just then—
"Thump!!!"
Deep in the corridor, behind the largest door, came an unprecedented, deafening pulsation.
The entire underground space trembled violently, and stones fell from the walls.
A massive and foul spiritual wave swept in like a tsunami.
Alvin's expression changed drastically, "Clarice, she—"
He didn't finish his sentence.
The moment that spiritual energy swept over Emily, her recently calmed mind was reignited.
"ah--!!!"
Emily let out a piercing scream.
Her strength suddenly surged, and she managed to break free from Rex's restraints.
"Kill you! Kill Grin! Kill everyone!!!"
She screamed, abandoning her knife and lunging at the nearest man, Rick, her fingernails bulging as she clawed at his throat like a wild beast.
As Green watched this scene, his heart sank to the bottom.
"Rex! Elwin! Please, control her! Don't let her hurt anyone, and don't let her hurt herself!"
He yelled hoarsely, "I'm going to help Clarisse!"
After saying that, he stopped looking at Emily and turned to rush toward the largest door at the end of the corridor.
Behind him came Emily's frantic cursing:
"Glen Morris! I'm going to kill you! I will definitely kill you!!!"
The voice was filled with hatred, madness, and... endless pain.
Green gritted his teeth, forcing himself not to listen.
He rushed to the largest door.
The door was ajar.
Through the crack in the door, shifting pink and crimson halos shone through, along with Clarice's rapid chanting and... a chilling sound that seemed to be the simultaneous groans of countless people.
Green took a deep breath and pushed open the door.
The sight inside the door made him freeze in place.
In the center of the room, the "Tree of Desire" had grown to almost the height of the ceiling.
The tree trunk had swollen to the thickness of three people's arms, its pale bark covered with dark red, vein-like patterns, accompanied by a heavy, thumping sound.
With each pulse, the air in the room trembled, the sweet fragrance mixed with the strong smell of blood, almost forming a tangible mist.
Marianna Fairfax's legs have "grown" out of the tree trunk, and there are some filaments connecting her back to the trunk.
Her beautiful body was naked, her skin a sickly white, as if she had never seen the sun.
Her long, dark brown hair cascaded down her chest like seaweed, the ends of which were stained with dark red tree sap.
Her face remained beautiful, even more alluring than in life. Her features were exquisite, her lips as red as blood, but her eyes...
Those dark green eyes were no longer just simple whirlpools.
Deep within the pupils, it seemed as if countless tiny, intertwined figures were rising and falling, writhing, and screaming silently amidst extreme pleasure and pain.
Those were not human eyes; they were the eyes of some ancient, more filthy being, looking down upon the ants in the room through this body.
