Chapter 165: No Medicine For Regret
Chapter 165: No Medicine For Regret
All guests, eager for some kind of entertainment, followed after them curiously.
"Come on, bring out your Terrans. My Silver will take care of them all." Silk proclaimed arrogantly as the silver dragon flew overhead while roaring.
Raiden looked at the young master in front of him with amusement. He really had a burning question he wanted to ask.
"Before we start, Silk, right?? I have a simple question."
"Ask away, peasant. I will grace you with an answer." Silk tilted his head upwards arrogantly, as if he was trying to look down on Raiden.
"Well, you do know that we live in the 3300s, right? Women’s rights have been a thing for like more than a 1,000 years now. They are not objects we can use to bet on. No matter what the result of our match will be, we can’t really dictate her life choices or control her life. I might lose, and she might still like me more than she likes you."
Hearing his words, the young master Silk was stunned speechless while the women in the crowd nodded their heads. Even after thousands of years, patriarchy was still very much a thing, and people often considered women as inferior to men.
"Of—Of course I know that!! It’s just that..." Silk, who had never seen much of the world, started to stammer.
"As for the second question, do you really believe that after you beat me in a fight, which, by the way, is never gonna happen, she will instantly break up with me and be attracted to you? Does fighting over a woman like this really change her mind at all?? Did you ever think about that?"
Young Master Silk opened and closed his mouth multiple times in a row, struggling to form words before he snapped.
"Enough!! Do you want to fight or not?! I believe that my queen will naturally choose the best person to be a part of our life!!"
"All right, if it’s a fight you want, it’s a fight you’ll get, but what are you going to bet on?" Raiden shrugged his shoulders as he replied.
"Huh? What do you mean??" Silk asked in confusion.
"Well, my whole future and relationship are hanging on a bet here. It doesn’t seem very fair if you don’t put something of equal value. Don’t you think so?" Raiden tried to swindle-convince the rich-looking, clueless young master.
Silk, who actually considered his words seriously for a second, nodded his head with a solemn expression.
"You are right. You might be a peasant, but you have some wise words to say. I really need to bet something of equal value, or it won’t seem fair at all. But what can I actually bet??" Silk fell into a dilemma for a second.
Seeing him getting swindled so easily, Raiden let out a laugh before giving a suggestion,
"How about money?? Since you have nothing else to give, you can just promise to stay away from Morgana from now on and give me this much money." Raiden extended two fingers in front of him, causing Silk’s face to brighten.
"Alright, just 2 Billion Credits?! That seems a little low, doesn’t it?" Silk muttered in a low voice, making Raiden almost falter and fall.
"2 BILLION?!!"
"Yes, it seems a little low, right? How about Twenty Billion Credits? And in the future, I promise to stay away from Morgana. But if you win, you also need to stay away from her." Silk spoke very seriously, causing Raiden to feel ecstatic.
He felt like God had gifted him such a wonderful gullible sucker as a New Year’s gift. Who would give out 20 Billion Credits for something like this? As for losing, that thought never even crossed Raiden’s mind at all. He felt invincible on the same level.
" All right!! 20 Billion it is!! Actually, I don’t really want to make a bet with you based on money. You seem like a nice guy, a True Man!! And money is such a vulgar thing that comes between friendships of two Real Men, but I’ll reluctantly accept it. Let’s start the mat—"
"Wow, you really understand me so well!! Raiden, right? You are completely correct. I apologise for being so insincere and offering something as vulgar and low-value as money. I will give you something real and tangible. How about this? I’ll give you my Jet!! It’s a custom-made one of one in the entire world, and it can fly at the speed of Mach 30 in an emergency. It can also withstand up to Diamond Tier attacks for 8 whole hours. You won’t find anything better than this in the entire market. Money is too vulgar for our bet." Silk explained everything in a reluctant yet proud voice, causing Raiden to freeze.
"No, no, no!! I don’t want the jet at all. Just give me money. I like vulgar things!!" Raiden waved his hand frantically as he explained. What a joke, what would he do with such an advanced jet? He doesn’t even know where to sell it, or if taking something like this would offend the family of the other party. He just wanted some money.
"You have such a pure soul. You must have sensed the reluctance on my face, and now you don’t want me to bet something so precious, right?? I feel even less reluctant now." Silk spoke with a moved expression on his face.
’ You understand? You understand shit!!’ Raiden exclaimed anxiously in his mind.
"No, listen to me, I—"
"Say no more!! I understand!! You are such a kind and caring person who wants to look after me, but I won’t take no for an answer. I am betting this Jet on the line, whether you want it or not. Now, enough talk. Let us settle this with a fight!!!"
Seeing the stubborn expression on his face, Raiden’s stomach was filled with endless regret. He regretted it so much. Why did he try to put on an act? He should have just accepted the money after the first try, but now there was no medicine for regret.
While crying tears of blood on the inside, Raiden channelled all his frustration and anger into the fight.
"Woolie!! Come!!"
"Woolie!!!"
Bang!!!
