Chapter 647: My Weakness Has Always Been You
Chapter 647: My Weakness Has Always Been You
Xuan Long gently pushed aside the strands of dark hair that had fallen across his face. For a few moments, he simply stood there in silence without looking back.Behind him, the ancient dungeon remained buried in endless darkness. All the screams, the blood, and the suffering he had left behind stayed trapped within that filthy place.
Then he turned and began walking away, step by step. The heavy darkness slowly receded behind him as the cold aura of the dungeon gradually faded with every step he took toward the outside world.
His expression remained calm and indifferent, as though nothing of importance had happened, as though he had not just sentenced a man to a fate worse than death. His white robe swayed gently with every step.
This was a place he had once sworn he would never return to.
Centuries ago, he had abandoned everything connected to it...the clan, the power, and the endless schemes.
He had wanted nothing to do with any of it. But life was strange, and no one ever truly knew where they would belong in the future or what fate would force them to face again.
Xuan Long slowly raised a hand, and his fingers lightly brushed against his chest.
Then, without warning, a face appeared in his mind...a gentle face with soft eyes and a warm smile. It was the only person capable of calming the darkness within him, the only one who could keep his sanity intact.
A faint warmth appeared in his emerald eyes for a brief moment before vanishing almost immediately, yet it had existed.
"Lan Lan..."
His voice was barely above a whisper as the wind carried the words away.
A faint smile appeared on his lips.
"Didn’t you say that if someone harmed our cub, you would never allow them to live peacefully?"
His footsteps continued, steady and unhurried, as the smile slowly faded from his face.
"See? I let him live."
A dangerous glint appeared within his eyes.
"But I made sure he would regret touching our son."
His voice became softer, almost gentle.
"Lan Lan..."
"You don’t understand."
"The world thinks my weakness is our son."
A soft laugh escaped him.
"How foolish."
"My weakness has always been you."
He closed his eyes briefly.
"You asked me to protect him, so I did."
"You asked me to be patient, so I tried."
"You asked me not to lose myself to the darkness..."
His smile became faint.
"I am still trying."
"Because if one day you stop looking at me..."
"Then there will be no reason for Xuan Long to remain sane."
Silence returned once more.
Soon the scenery around him began to change, and the darkness completely disappeared.
A magnificent world appeared before his eyes...the Upper Domain, a place countless people dreamed of reaching and where countless geniuses spent their entire lives trying to arrive.
Xuan Long looked ahead calmly.
In the distance stood Teng Clan Manor.
Calling it a manor was an understatement; it was more like a heavenly kingdom.
Towering palaces stretched toward the sky, crystal rivers flowed through floating gardens, ancient trees covered entire mountains, and spiritual energy filled every corner of this world. Everything looked magical and breathtaking.
No one knew who had created the Upper Domain, when it had appeared, or even how it continued to exist. Yet it had stood for countless years, unchanging and eternal.
People here never worried about food, clothing, or survival.
There was only one thing that truly mattered...power.
The stronger you became, the more everything would crawl toward you willingly: resources, status, authority, and respect.
Everything was decided by power, and it was this very power that Xuan Long had once despised.
For years he had stayed away from it and ignored it, yet life had once again dragged him back into its center.
His gaze shifted toward the massive palace standing ahead...the Teng Clan. Once one of the most glorious clans in the Upper Domain, its halls had once been filled with authority and its name had shaken countless lands.
Now it was nothing more than a hollow shell. The magnificent walls still stood and the grand buildings still existed, but the glory, the authority, and the spirit were all gone.
In Xuan Long’s eyes, every member of the Teng Clan was a failure.
He despised them for what they had done to him, for what they had done to his people, and for what they had done to the world itself.
None of them were innocent, and none of them were saints. He had no intention of pretending otherwise.
Soon he arrived before the enormous gates. The guards standing there immediately straightened, their faces turning pale.
Without hesitation, the gates opened with a deep boom as the massive doors slowly parted.
Xuan Long stepped forward, his expression never changing and his gaze remaining calm, as though everything before him was insignificant.
The moment he entered, a loud voice echoed through the palace. "Clan Master Xuan Long is here!"
The announcement spread throughout the entire clan, and countless eyes immediately turned toward him.
Xuan Long did not even blink. He continued walking forward step by step. His presence alone caused the surrounding elders to lower their heads.
Many of them did not dare meet his eyes, while others clenched their fists secretly. Some even revealed traces of unwillingness.
Xuan Long noticed all of it.
A faint smirk almost appeared on his face.
These were the same people who had once rejected him, feared him, and secretly wished for his downfall.
Yet what could they do now?
Nothing.
He was the recognized master of the Teng Clan... the position they had always coveted and the authority they had always desired.
Now it belonged to him, the one person they least wanted to see sitting upon that throne.
Whether they accepted it or not no longer mattered.
Whether they liked him or hated him no longer mattered.
Because the words of the Clan Master were absolute, and now there was only one Clan Master whose will ruled the Teng Clan...
That is him... Xuan Long.
